Making Confident Real Estate Decisions Starts with Clarity
How understanding your options, not chasing headlines, leads to better decisions for buyers and sellers.

QUESTION 1 - THE MOMENT
Thank you so much for taking the time to sit with us today! Before we dive in, could you share a little about yourself, the areas you serve, and give us a quick teaser of what you’ll be sharing with our readers?
I'm Erica Chouinard, a Realtor with RE/MAX Professionals and founder of The Real Estate Experts of Denver. For more than 25 years, I've helped buyers and sellers throughout the Denver metro area, from first time homebuyers to luxury properties, downsizing, relocation, and golf course communities. I'm also licensed in Arizona as we thoughtfully expand our business into the Scottsdale market.

I'm excited to talk about something I believe every consumer is looking for today: clarity. The real estate market is constantly changing, and there's no shortage of opinions online. My goal is to help buyers and sellers understand what the market means for their unique situation so they can make confident real estate decisions, no matter the market.
QUESTION 2 — THE STORY BEHIND IT
Before we get into your announcement, can you share how you got started in real estate and why this work is so meaningful to you?
I began my real estate career in 2001 after spending several years in customer service. I was looking for a career where I could build meaningful relationships, solve complex problems, and make a lasting difference in people's lives. Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most people will ever make, and I quickly realized that my role wasn't simply to help clients complete a transaction. It was to help them make informed decisions with confidence.

What continues to motivate me today is that no two clients and no two situations are ever the same. Every market presents different opportunities and challenges, and every family has a unique story, goals, and priorities. I enjoy helping people understand their options, navigate the process, and make decisions that align with what's best for them, not just what's happening in the market.

More than two decades later, that mission hasn’t changed. My business has evolved, technology has transformed the industry, and the way consumers search for information looks very different than it did when I started. But the need for trusted professional guidance has never been greater, and that's what continues to make this work so rewarding.
QUESTION 3 — WHY IT MATTERS
We’ve been looking forward to this—what’s the topic or insight you wanted to spotlight today, and what inspired it?
The insight I'd like to share is that today's real estate market requires a more personalized approach than ever before. Consumers have access to an incredible amount of information online, from home values and market reports to mortgage calculators and AI powered search tools. While that information is valuable, it doesn't replace professional guidance that's tailored to an individual's goals and circumstances.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that people are looking for one answer to questions like, "Is now a good time to buy?" or "Is now a good time to sell?" The reality is that the right decision depends on your financial goals, timing, lifestyle, and the opportunities available in your local market. The same market can present very different opportunities for different people.

That's what inspired this conversation. I believe my role is to help clients interpret the market, not simply report on it. Whether someone is buying their first home, selling a luxury property, relocating, or planning for retirement, they deserve advice that's based on their unique situation instead of headlines or generalizations. When people understand their options, they can make confident real estate decisions regardless of what the market is doing.

QUESTION 4 — WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED
Let’s unpack this a bit further. What should people understand about the impact or importance of what you shared?
One of the biggest changes I’ve seen throughout my career is how much more information consumers have at their fingertips, but having more information doesn’t always make the decisions any easier. Buyers and sellers can quickly become overwhelmed by headlines, automated home valuations, online opinions and conflicting advice. The challenge isn't finding information. It's knowing which information applies to your specific situation.

That's why I believe real estate has become more advisory than transactional. Every client has different financial goals, timelines, and priorities, so the best strategy isn't always the same. Sometimes the right decision is to move forward. Other times it's to wait, explore different options, or adjust expectations based on current market conditions.

My responsibility is to provide honest guidance, even when it's not the answer a client expected to hear. Building trust means helping people understand both the opportunities and the tradeoffs so they can make decisions with confidence. At the end of the day, success isn't measured by simply closing a transaction. It's measured by helping clients make decisions they'll feel good about years later.
QUESTION 5 — WHAT COMES NEXT
From your professional perspective, what should people know to navigate this topic more confidently or successfully?
The best advice I can offer is to make decisions based on your personal goals rather than trying to time the market. I've worked through multiple market cycles and one thing has remained consistent: there's rarely a "perfect" time to buy or sell. There are simply opportunities that make sense for different people at different stages of life.

I also encourage buyers and sellers to look beyond headlines and national news. Real estate is local, and conditions can vary significantly from one community to the next. What's happening nationally doesn't always reflect what's happening in your neighborhood or price range.

Finally, don't underestimate the value of asking questions. Whether you're buying your first home, selling a longtime residence, or considering a move to another state, understanding your options is one of the most important parts of the process. My goal is never to convince someone to make a move. It's to provide the information and guidance they need to decide what's right for them. When people have clarity, they make better decisions, and those decisions tend to stand the test of time.
QUESTION 6 — THE TAKEAWAY
This has been a great conversation. As we close, what final advice would you offer, and how can people learn more about working with you?
One of the things I've learned over the years is that the best real estate decisions aren't made under pressure. They're made with good information, thoughtful planning, and a clear understanding of your options. Whether you're planning a move next month or simply thinking about what's next a few years from now, don't hesitate to start the conversation early. You don't have to be ready to buy or sell to benefit from professional guidance.

If you'd like to learn more, you can find market updates, educational videos, and real estate insights on my website and across my social media channels. I believe informed consumers make better decisions, and I'm committed to creating resources that help buyers and sellers understand the market with confidence. If you have questions about your own situation, I'm always happy to have a conversation and help you explore your options.
