The local website isn’t successful because it’s a website.
It’s successful because the community is online.
Look at the shift:
📈 42% of Americans now get local news and information from online-only
sources — up from 15% in 2018.
💬 52% get local information from online forums and discussion groups.
🏛️ 98% of local governments have a website, using them for everything from events and resources to permits and community information.
The audience didn’t disappear.
The audience moved.
And that creates an interesting opportunity for real estate professionals.
Agents already sit at the center of their communities. They know the businesses, people, organizations, neighborhoods and stories that make a place worth living in.
So why should their digital presence stop at a social media profile?
What if agents started thinking beyond marketing themselves and started building digital destinations for the communities they serve?
Not another real estate website.
A community publication.
A place people actually have a reason to visit, discover, share and return to.
The next evolution of local influence may not be about getting more attention.
It may be about owning the place where that attention happens.
