Why most realtors aren't "bad at marketing" they just have the wrong job description in their head...
I talk to real estate agents every week about growing their personal brand, and I keep running into the same wall: most agents think marketing is something you *do* on top of your real job.
Post a listing. Share an open house. Maybe post a "just sold" graphic. Check the box, move on.
But the agents who are actually winning right now aren't doing more marketing — they're doing less selling and more sharing. They've made a mental shift: their expertise, their local knowledge, their client stories — that's the content. Not the ad, not the flyer, not the "DM me for a free consultation" post.
Here's the mindset problem, plainly:
Most agents build for the transaction in front of them. The agents who build long-term visibility build for the *audience* they don't have yet.
That shift isn't a marketing tactic. It's a mindset shift from "salesperson broadcasting a listing" to "expert publishing their perspective."
If you're an agent and your content feels like it's not landing, ask yourself: am I selling, or am I sharing something worth reading?
The agents who figure that out early are the ones who don't have to cold-call in five years.
